CreateSpace update

I received my proof of Second Death from CreateSpace today. It is amazingly beautiful. Now I have to read through it to make sure it’s correct, then I’ll be able to actually order print copies. I’ve begun working on my marketing plan, which is the next really important step.

Don’t forget, it’s available on Kindle, and soon in other formats.

I’ve finally completed reformatting Second Death for Smashwords. This means it will be distributed to Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Apple and Diesel, as soon as it finishes being reviewed for inclusion in their Premium Catalog. I’ll post links when it’s ready.

I’m formulating my marketing plan now for it. Publication is just the beginning!

Ordered proof

The next step in the print journey for Second Death is complete. I spent a couple of hours yesterday reformatting the manuscript for CreateSpace. It’s a good thing I had to do that–besides leaving in the template’s headers (how embarrassing!) the second time I reformatted it, one of the chapters was called Chapter 10. And it was chapter 30. Eek! But all is fixed and I’ve now ordered the proof. It should arrive in about a week.

In the meantime, buy it for Kindle!

Second Death available now

Second Death, my first novel, is now available on Kindle at and I would greatly appreciate your support of this book, by buying it AND by writing a review. Word of mouth–or should I say, word of Internet–is so important in sales. I’m developing a marketing plan, but any advice on that front is also appreciated.

I’m still formatting it for print-on-demand. I screwed it up the first time, so that the page numbers weren’t sequential. Starting over seemed easier. I’m hoping to get that done and in-process today or tomorrow. Not everyone has an e-book reader!

Once Second Death is out the door, I’ll start preparing The Source of LIghtning, my second novel, a rather steampunk tale of intrigue and mayhem in the aether. Look for it soon!

New project

Hi, I’m Donna, and I’m obviously NOT a post-a-holic. It’s been far too long since my last post.

I made the decision to self-publish my first two novels. I know it’s not the ideal situation, but I originally wrote them about ten years ago, and have shopped them around on numerous occasions. Most recently, Dorchester opined (paraphrasing), "Almost, but not quite." So my current project is converting Second Death and The Source of Lightning to Kindle- and CreateSpace-friendly formats, to sell them myself.

I’ll detail more about the projects soon.
